Sledding Correctly

When sledding, have kids lie on their backs and go feet first down the slope. Another safe way is sitting face forward on the sled. Either approach will greatly reduce the risk of head injuries.

Make sure the bottom of the hill when sledding is away from an icy body of water. Children could fall through the ice and drown.

Sledding Safety

When sledding on a hill, make sure the land at the bottom is safe. It should be either fenced in so a sled won’t go into the street or have plenty of space to stop without entering the street. It should also be free of trees and other obstacles since an out of control sled could slam into them causing serious bodily injury.
