SAT – no science

ACT – includes science

SAT – essay writing mandatory

ACT – no essay writing (optional)

SAT – points taken off

ACT – guessing is ok as points are not taken off

The short answer is that these tests have slightly different requirements so you would want to choose the test that plays into your student’s strengths.
