As the world and our country come together to manage through the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, We hope that you and your loved ones are healthy and safe.

In recent weeks, we have all needed to take extreme steps for the health and well-being of our shared communities. Our hearts are with those diagnosed with the virus, and our deepest gratitude goes out to the heroes of this moment, including the doctors, nurses, health care professionals and everyone on the front line across the country who are displaying incredible bravery to support the greater good. They set an inspiring example for all of us.

At Y3K Tutor In Your Home we remain committed to the national efforts in slowing the spread of the virus. We have decided to extend our temporary in-home closures, until further notice, for the health and safety of our tutors and students. While our in-home tutoring is suspended, we continue to serve the many of families who we tutor through Zoom, FaceTime, Skype and WhatsApp, 8:00 AM – 11:00 PM seven days a week, directly in your home.

We are closely monitoring the situation and will reopen in your home as soon as it is safe to do so, based on the guidance of experts, including the World Health Organization (WHO) and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Y3K Tutor In Your Home looks forward to you welcoming us back into your house when deemed safe to do so. We want to personally thank all of our students for their willingness to adapt to the changing world around them, while preventing an educational slide during their time off from in-person learning. Also we want to thank all of our tutors that have shown incredible agility and dedication to our students.

It is fair to say that these past weeks have been among the most daunting and extraordinary that we have experienced in our lifetime. We are being tested in ways far beyond what we could have ever imagined, and yet we are also coming together with renewed purpose. Everyone must become part of the national effort to slow the coronavirus spread using social distancing. In the case of Y3K Tutor In Your Home, we continue to educate our students. Although during the coronavirus shutdown we are no longer to able to personally teach inside your home, we are still seeing all of our students with online tutoring. In many cases we are the ONLY educators left in that child or young adult’s life. The work of our staff is essential to those we serve. Our Y3K Tutor In Your Home tutors continue to tutor all students using FaceTime, Skype, Zoom, WhatsApp and more! Lessons are as if we are in your home sitting right next to you.

During this time of coronavirus (COVID-19) it is heartening to know that Y3K Tutor In Your Home never stops – never sleeps – and is always educating those students in our care.

Money raised will support professional growth and development opportunities for Thayer’s faculty, as well as TAPA programming that has a school-wide impact.

When it comes to the topic of money, children learn best from their parents. There are many aspects to using and managing money that we as adults use in our everyday lives that are essential to pass on to our kids.  Y3K Tutor In Your Home will debut a series dedicated to helping you the parent educate your children on the important topic of money. Sometimes students struggle with homework because of learning difficulties, not because they don’t want to do the work. If you suspect this, act at once. Some options include contacting the teacher, calling the special education department and requesting a neuropsychological evaluation, you the parent working with your student at home, or calling a Y3K Tutor In Your Home tutor to catch them up and move them forward.

Others students prefer get to their homework right away as they can remain focused and want to finish so they can have the rest of their evening to themselves. It is important to allow students the ability to do their homework once they are mentally ready to do so as long as enough time is allotted to complete all assignments.

Y3K Tutor In Your Home has been working with our 7-year-old son who was diagnosed with executive function. After only a few sessions I could not believe the difference in his writing and math. I am amazed that in such a short period of time we went from not being able to read anything our son wrote, to having him write complete legible sentences. My son’s tutor has a natural ability for making children feel comfortable. He also shows them that it is OK to make mistakes. I talked to many different people who provided tutoring services and found that their process was very specific and not necessarily tailored to the child and their way of learning. After talking to Jerry I knew our search was over. Jerry is amazing and cares very much for the kids he works with. Classroom Difficulties (Part 7: No Parents Allowed)

The person doing the observation should not be the parent either as students behave differently when their parents are present or when they know they are being observed. Talk to the principal and ask if the observer can be another teacher, principal, special education director, Y3K Tutor In Your Home tutor, or other trained professional. The observer should make note of times when the child is cooperating as well as having difficulty. The entire classroom environment should be observed.
