It is suspected that students with ADHD are able to focus better for one to three hours after exercise. This is due to the fact that studies show that exercise increases levels of two key brain chemicals that help people focus (dopamine and norepinephrine).
Stress Tip
Stress balls are great for calming a student and allowing them to re-focus.
Eyes and Focus
Kids eyes should be checked yearly. Eye problems like nearsightedness can cause headaches, lack of comprehension, fatigue and loss of focus.
Winter
Cold, gray winter days can cause some students to feel depressed and lose focus. Plenty of bright light and lively colors make a difference.
Anxiety
Anxiety can be a harmful distraction. Have kids focus on a happy time or place to help them relax.
