The reason children on the autism spectrum do not enjoy pretend play is based on how their brains see the world. Pretend play requires putting yourself in someone’s shoes and talking and acting as if you were another person. Children with autism spectrum disorders usually struggle with the ability to see outside of themselves.

For the Cats and Kittens:

• Canned cat food (any brand, not shredded variety)
• Blankets and soft cat beds
• Towels
• Toys (squeaky toys, balls, stuffed mice, fishing pole toys, catnip)
For the Dogs and Puppies:
• Science Diet brand dry food
• Canned dog food (any brand or variety)
• Leashes (4, 6, or 8-foot; not the retractable kind)
• Toys (squeaky & plush toys; no tennis balls/rope toys)
• Pressed raw hides

Y3K Tutor In Your Home recently donated our tutoring and test prep services to the MetroWest YMCA Charity Auction – Helping Kids in Need. Please bid generously as the money raised provides financial assistance for low-income youth to participate at the YMCA and helps fund programs like Teen Night.
Family Promise Metrowest: Keep The Promise

School Shootings & Building Design
Schools have been preparing for shootings like the one yesterday in Troutdale, Oregon. Due to the tragic Newtown, CT school shootings, some local cities and towns are keeping security in mind as they design new school buildings. For example, Newton, MA’s new Angier Elementary School building was supposed to have their kindergarten classrooms on the ground floor so these smaller kids could have easier access. After the Sandy Hook shootings, the City of Newton decided to move all classrooms at the Angier Elementary School to the second and third floors.
Newton Montessori School Gala & Auction

The proceeds for this Saturday’s event will go towards increasing the accessibility to and affordability of innovative curriculum initiatives. Carter Carnival – Carter Nursery School Needham
Carter Nursery School of Needham MA’s only fundraiser will take place this coming Saturday. The event is a late winter highlight for residents of Needham and surrounding communities.
