It is important to know what your child is allergic to. People are allergic to different things so your doctor may be able to help you figure that out. Knowing what makes your child’s symptoms worse can then lead to avoiding those items. The most important action you can take is to limit the allergens that are within your control. Come back tomorrow for tips on limiting allergens in your home and making life for a seasonal allergy sufferer more bearable.
Seasonal Allergies & Children
Allergies are typically genetic. A child whose parents have allergies is more likely to have allergies too. There isn’t a cure, but there are ways to control allergies. Tomorrow will be more on how you can help people with seasonal allergies.
Seasonal Allergies
These days noses are running, eyes are puffy and throats are scratchy. It is allergy season. Allergens are what cause those uncomfortable symptoms. They are common yet harmless items such as pollen, mold spores and dust. Allergens are what make people who have allergies sneeze, wheeze, cough or have other symptoms. Allergies are also a common trigger for asthma symptoms. Check back here over the next several days to find ways to keep seasonal allergies under control.
Dads & Daughters
Research shows that girls delay the onset of sexual activity if they have a close relationship with their father.
Fathers Are Important
Involved fathers produce greater sociability and confidence in both daughters and sons.
Shame In Failure?
If you tried your best, there is no shame in failure . . . only in quitting.
Your Place In This World
To the world you might be one person, but to one person you might be the world.
Benefits of Family Dinner
Children who eat dinner with their families do better in school and are less likely to drink, smoke, do drugs, or develop eating disorders. A study found Americans rank 23rd out of 25 countries when it comes to family meals.
Teach Giving Back
Demonstrate that giving back is the most important thing one can do. You can teach this with money. If you hand a kid a quarter to drop into the local street corner animal shelter container, they are just delivering YOUR money so nothing is learned. Sometimes kids need to know how it feels to help others with the sacrifice of donating their own money. This also works with donating some holiday and birthday presents and Halloween candy to the sick or poor.
Parenting Special Needs Children
When children have special needs, those closest to them may suffer. Parents of children with special needs often experience emotional problems such as fear, sadness, rage, loneliness, and guilt. They also experience physical problems such as exhaustion and self-neglect. Many report their health as “fair to poor“ and over half say their diets and exercise habits have deteriorated since their parenting responsibilities began. They also report that they do not regularly keep their own medical appointments. It is important for those caring for those with special needs to address and treat their own issues as well.
