A student assembly at Dover-Sherborn High School in Dover, MA has many parents furious. On January 31, 2018 students attended the school-wide assembly on the seemingly harmless topic of “inclusion”. According to a local TV news report, parents were notified ahead of time about the assembly and told the guest speaker was to discuss hate-speech. A concerned parent after the assembly said, “We were told this speech was about one thing – anti-bullying, being kind to one another, and accepting each other for who they are.” However this parent tells the news reporter that, “What our kids got was a political speech bashing the current administration.”
The guest speaker shifted focus of the assembly to the new topic of whom they should and should not support for president. The speaker began encouraging students to become voters so they can vote against President Trump. According to the news report, “The speaker at the assembly encouraged kids to register to vote so that President Trump could be pushed out of office.” The speaker praised the previous Democrat president several times throughout the speech, while bad mouthing the current Republican President Trump.
Angry parents have been filing complaints with school administrators and say, “they are angry that a school assembly became a forum for political indictment.” The news report when on to say that the headmaster claimed he couldn’t comment on the situation without permission of the superintendent, while the superintendent could not be reached for comment.
It is currently cold and flu season throughout the country. We would like to remind you of an example of when your child should be kept home from school. If all families did their part, the spread of disease would be greatly reduced.
If your child is diagnosed with strep throat, 24 hours of antibiotic therapy is required before returning to school. Besides harming everyone else with these viruses, respiratory infections can trigger an asthma attack in certain susceptible children. We need to prevent these asthma attacks so by keeping your student home from school can help.

After World War II, homework reform movements began to appear. There was a push to make homework more interesting rather than trying to eliminate it.
Tomorrow we will reveal the single historical event that caused homework to be considered essential to the future of the nation. This historical event was the one that changed everything!
In the early 1900’s homework was considered a bad thing. In fact Ladies’ Home Journal campaigned against homework claiming it damaged children’s health. Some American cities including Los Angeles even passed anti-homework ordinances. Come back tomorrow to find out when the anti-homework tide began to change.
