HOW TO MAKE KIDS WANT TO READ #2: Comics, Magazines and Newspapers Count

Reading must be fun or a child won’t read it. Not all reading comes in the form of a book. Allow your student to choose comic books, magazines, and newspapers. Superhero comics, graphic novels, sports magazines, MAD Magazine, and the sports section of the newspaper are some of the most exciting reading out there. Encourage them to read these if they hate reading books. Don’t worry that these are not considered “fine classic literature” by all the snobby know-it-alls. Reading is reading and these items are fun.

Y3K Tutor In Your Home’s Keeping Skills Over the Summer Tip #1

July 25, 2014 By Y3K

You can prevent your child from losing math and reading skills over the summer by hiring a tutor to make sure your child’s knowledge doesn’t get hindered by a long summer break. A lot of parents think that people only hire teachers if their child is getting low grades in tests but this isn’t the case. Yes, tutors help students failing to get better grades but they can also be used to take your straight A’s child to straight A*’s. A long summer holiday allows students to have a much-needed break from school but it doesn’t mean they can stop learning. For example, you can hire an English tutor Brisbane to work with your child over the summer holidays so when they go back they have more of a chance of understanding the new things they will learn.

Of course, it all depends on what subjects your child enjoys, struggles with, and does good in. And remember, you don’t want to push them too hard over the summer and get too many tutors in as they want to have time to relax and will end up pushing against learning new things. You don’t want your child to have a negative view on learning new things so Y3K Tutor In Your Home will offer simple tips you can do over the next several posts.

Y3K Tutor In Your Home’s Keeping Skills Over the Summer Tip #1:

Keep writing. Encourage your child to write emails, letters and keep a journal of fun activities. Support your child’s creativity by not focusing on editing mistakes. Make it fun which in turn will give your child an opportunity to practice writing.
