Everyone must become part of the national effort to slow the coronavirus spread using social distancing. In the case of Y3K Tutor In Your Home, we continue to educate our students. Although during the coronavirus shutdown we are no longer to able to personally teach inside your home, we are still seeing all of our students with online tutoring. In many cases we are the ONLY educators left in that child or young adult’s life. The work of our staff is essential to those we serve. Our Y3K Tutor In Your Home tutors continue to tutor all students using FaceTime, Skype, Zoom, WhatsApp and more! Lessons are as if we are in your home sitting right next to you.

During this time of coronavirus (COVID-19) it is heartening to know that Y3K Tutor In Your Home never stops – never sleeps – and is always educating those students in our care.

Coronavirus Social Distancing

Now that schools are closed and a number of employees are working from home amid the coronavirus outbreak, people need to practice the concept of social distancing. It is the only thing that is going to immediately address the situation that we’re experiencing here in the United States. Y3K Tutor In Your Home asks all families to help flatten the curve. This means to spread out the impact of the virus over time instead of allowing it to spike as we’ve seen in Italy, for example, where the number of confirmed cases increased rapidly. A spike could overwhelm our health care system, even here in the United States.

Unfortunately there can be no play dates for your children, because you don’t know what the other child has been exposed to and might be bringing into your house, where it could be passed on. Avoid large public gatherings or venues where many people congregate such as malls. Social distancing is a way to protect yourself from contagious diseases, including the flu, the common cold or coronavirus (COVID-19). It involves maintaining at least a six-foot distance from other people, getting away from anyone who’s coughing or sneezing, avoiding shaking hands and using technology to meet instead of meeting in person when possible. As a nation we can work together and get it done!

 

Franklin Elementary School Newton PTO Auction

We donated again this year to the Franklin Elementary School PTO Auction to help the students of Newton, MA.  Look for the Y3K Tutor In Your Home tutoring and test preparation donation at the auction.  Our donation and your bids during a challenging year will make a difference.  The money we raise will expand technology, make purchases in both the library and classroom, help with the creative arts and sciences program, and enhance with field trips.

We enjoy helping the community whenever we can.  This is why we donated our tutoring and test preparation certificates to the Family Fun Morning Auction at  the Carter Nursery School of Needham, MA.  The money we raise is so valuable to their school.  It helps fund equipment upgrades, specialists’ visits to classrooms, and more.  Be sure to look for our Y3K Tutor In Your Home donation at the auction and please help the Carter Nursery School children of Needham and the surrounding towns.

Our Y3K Tutor In Your Home tutor has been terrific for my 7th grader with executive function and decoding issues. He met a boy frustrated about school, quickly established a great rapport and turned him into a boy with some confidence that he could meet the demands of 7th grade. It is an ongoing process.  Our tutor helps each week with organization of materials and assignments and working on homework where a little more explanation is needed.  He has been particularly helpful in helping with writing assignments, getting my son to think through the question, his argument and then really thoroughly explaining and supporting his arguments.  Before he was struggling to write 3 paragraphs, and now he is checking to make sure he has articulated every thought clearly.  Our tutor’s support each week reinforces the lessons and keeps my son on track and organized.  His grades have come up, but most importantly he is confident in himself as a student and is engaging more with teachers during the day.

The Y3K Tutor In Your Home 17th Annual Buddy Dog Humane Society Collection Drive has just come to an end. This year the number of emails and phone calls for this worthy cause was truly overwhelming. Thank you to the many, many families that brought donations to our drop off locations and for the dog supplies we personally picked up at your homes.

Haynes Elementary School Tutor Sudbury MA

The Haynes Organization of Parents in Sudbury will be having their annual auction fundraiser this coming weekend.  Y3K Tutor In Your Home donated tutoring and test preparation to the auction.  The money raised will benefit the students of the Haynes Elementary School by supporting STEAM Enrichment programs as well as classroom equipment, supplies and professional development for teachers.
