Do not say that you do not have enough time. You have exactly the same number of hours that were given to Albert Einstein, Thomas Edison, Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, Helen Keller and Thomas Jefferson. There is always enough time to be great.
Rivers School Tutoring & Test Prep – Weston MA
The Rivers School of Weston Parent Testimonial
“My son made high honors for the first time! He has been at the Rivers School for over 3 years and in the Weston Public Schools before that. During his entire schooling he always struggled. He battles with executive function which has held him down since he started school. Before we met you, he was turning in around half of his homework assignments and many of them late. Now all of the homework is handed in on time and receiving full credit. You taught him organization and study skills that helped him cope with his executive function. My son earned high honors at Rivers in just a matter of 3 months time. We are thrilled! Thanks Y3K Tutor In Your Home.”

Study Skills
To make new information stick (vocabulary, facts & etc), try spacing out study sessions over several weeks. Research on what is know as the “spacing effect” shows that we form stronger and more lasting memories by exposing ourselves to information over time. Repeated cycles of learning, consolidating, and then re-encountering material fix it firmly in our minds. Avoid last minute cramming if you can help it.
Difficulties
We must overcome difficulties rather than be overcome by difficulties.
Ideas & Action
Ideas not coupled with action never become bigger than the brain cells they occupied.
You Can Succeed
You can succeed even if nobody else believes it. However you will never succeed if you do not believe in yourself.
Preparation & Luck
Thorough preparation makes its own luck.
Make a Difference
There was a young man walking down a deserted beach just before dawn. In the distance he saw a frail old man. As he approached the old man, he saw him picking up stranded starfish and throwing them back into the sea. The young man gazed in wonder as the old man again and again threw the small starfish from the sand to the water. He asked, “Old man, why do you spend so much energy doing what seems to be a waste of time?” The old man explained that the stranded starfish would die if left in the morning sun. “But there must be thousands of beaches and millions of starfish!” exclaimed the young man. “How can you make any difference?”
The old man looked at the small starfish in his hand and as he threw it to the safety of the sea he said, “It makes a difference to this one! I make a difference!”

Birthday Parties and Special Needs
If your child has certain special needs issues and invited to a birthday party, try to include them as much as possible in environments where they have the best chances of success. As a parent, you know the environments or situations that often are going to be successful or unsuccessful for your child. For example you may opt to skip the jewelry-making portion of a party if your child has poor fine motor skills. If your child doesn’t swim, you may not sign on to the swimming portion of the party. Find out the party’s schedule and bring your child when they are eating, opening presents, or doing other activities your child can successfully participate in.
