Our Y3K Tutor In Your Home tutor has been very consistent in his requirements for our son. It is easy to see that he has a lot of experience with “difficult” kids. He keeps his calm and finds a way to move forward. Jerry has helped our son a lot with organizational skills and planning. It has been only 2 months but we are definitely seeing progress in the right direction. It is wonderful that the tutoring is done in the comfort of our home and Y3K Tutor In Your Home was willing to find the time that worked well for us.

ADHD in Girls Overlooked

Many girls are overlooked for ADHD diagnosis and treatment.  The reason is that even though they may struggle in school, they have good relationships with their peers and teachers like them.  Many adult women are diagnosed only when they take their children to be evaluated and realize they may be suffering from ADHD too.

Many young girls and women have a subtype called predominantly inattentive ADHD.  They may seem flighty or spacy but are not hyperactive.  This might not raise a red flag with teachers or parents.  As a result, girls often go without treatment until they reach adulthood.  The use of ADHD medication among women ages 26 to 34 has risen 85% in just 5 years! 

Tomorrow we will look at why girls are frequently overlooked for treatment.

Boston Area Rape Crisis Center’s Champions for Change Gala & Auction will be taking place this Friday.  Y3K Tutor In Your Home donated tutoring and test preparation services to the auction.  This money raised will support the free services provided to over 5,000 survivors and family members each year.  Also it will provide trainings and outreach to over 10,000 community members.
