Organizational Skills Tip #3: Homework Notebook/Planner

Most disorganized students forget or lose track of what assignments need to be completed and when then need to be turned in. A homework notebook or planner app should be used to write down the following every day:

Homework assigned for each class with due dates.

If no homework assigned for a given class, write “no homework”.

Upcoming tests, quizzes and projects.

Organizational Skills Make All The Difference

September 3, 2014 By Y3K

Y3K Tutor In Your Home often receives phone calls and emails by parents all the time asking us to help their students with organizational skills. These skills can be the difference between a poor student and a successful student. Children without organizational skills more often than not, tend to fall behind and suffer with low grades. They have trouble keeping track of assignments and/or constantly losing things.

Over the next several posts we will offer some organization tips just in time for the new school year.

Homework Strategy

February 3, 2014 By Y3K

Having a ton of homework can be overwhelming for a student. Students (and adults) may be paralyzed with fear as to how to get all of the homework completed. Have your child identify and start the hardest assignments first. This way their brain will be the least tired and most focused.

Newton Parent Testimonial

“I cannot say enough good things about Y3K. The owner has tutored both my son and daughter through elementary, middle, and now high school. His skill, warmth and flexibility have enabled both of my children to address their challenges and achieve their goals. He is engaging and knowledgeable across subjects, and is also able to teach study habits and organization skills, even when there is resistance! 🙂 He is a complete professional, and willing to go above and beyond the call of duty to attend school meetings as an articulate advocate. He has had a truly significant influence on my children’s academic success and self esteem, and has been a great resource for me as a single parent. His dedication, humor, and abilities as a teacher make him not only an extremely gifted tutor, but also an excellent mentor and role model for my young teens. I give Y3K my highest recommendation!”

The Rivers School of Weston Parent Testimonial

“My son made high honors for the first time! He has been at the Rivers School for over 3 years and in the Weston Public Schools before that. During his entire schooling he always struggled. He battles with executive function which has held him down since he started school. Before we met you, he was turning in around half of his homework assignments and many of them late. Now all of the homework is handed in on time and receiving full credit. You taught him organization and study skills that helped him cope with his executive function. My son earned high honors at Rivers in just a matter of 3 months time. We are thrilled! Thanks Y3K Tutor In Your Home.”
